How to use the discount calculator
- Enter the price or MRP.
- Enter the discount percentage.
- If there is an extra discount on top (a coupon, bank offer or "extra 10% off"), enter it too. Leave it at 0 if there isn't one.
Discount formulas
Price after discount = Price × (1 − Discount ÷ 100)
Final price = Price after first discount × (1 − Extra discount ÷ 100)
You save = Price − Final priceExample
A jacket costs ₹2,000 with 20% off and an extra 10% off at checkout.
- After 20% off: ₹2,000 × 0.8 = ₹1,600
- After the extra 10%: ₹1,600 × 0.9 = ₹1,440
- You save ₹560, a total discount of 28%
20% + 10% is not 30%
The extra discount is taken on the already reduced price, not on the MRP. So "20% off + extra 10% off" works out to 28%, not 30%. A straight 30% discount would bring the jacket to ₹1,400, which is ₹40 cheaper. When comparing two offers, always compare the final price.

FAQ
How do I calculate the discount percentage from the prices?
Subtract the sale price from the original price, divide by the original price and multiply by 100. For ₹2,000 reduced to ₹1,440: (2,000 − 1,440) ÷ 2,000 × 100 = 28%.
How do I find the original price from the sale price?
Divide the sale price by (1 − discount ÷ 100). If you paid ₹1,600 after 20% off, the original price was 1,600 ÷ 0.8 = ₹2,000.
Are two discounts added together?
No. The second discount applies to the price after the first one, so the total is always less than the sum. Use the calculator to see the real total.
Does the MRP include GST?
Yes. In India the MRP printed on a product includes all taxes, so the discounted price you pay also includes GST. For business billing, see the GST calculator.
